When you look at your life what do you see? Do you see someone who is always striving for happiness or someone desperate for happiness?
Have you ever found yourself asking questions like:
“How can I be happy again after difficulties?”, ” How do I choose to be happy again?”
Maybe you’re this person that has been through so many dark situations that it is impossible to see the light. Or maybe you just want to learn how to be happy without depending on other people’s actions or approval.
We will all experience days that we ask ourselves “Am I really happy?” or “Can I ever find happiness after this situation?”
No matter the current state that you are in right now, I want to encourage you with 10 quotes. These quotes will help you shake off the feeling of sadness or unhappiness and be happy.

I’ve decided to start with this quote because everywhere we go, there’s someone saying these words, and it’s so true. But, how can I be happy if I don’t know how to be happy?
I remember after being diagnosed with facial paralysis. I was getting all these positive messages such as: “Stay strong, cheer up, everything will be alright. God is working for you, don’t worry about it. “
And I found myself thinking: “How can I feel okay when I’m obviously NOT feeling okay?” If everything I see is darkness and sadness, then how can I see past that? It’s just impossible.
I am a living proof that it is possible. If you change your focus from your hardships and try to understand the lesson, you will find inner peace.
One of the best ways to work towards happiness is to start by changing the way you think. Every time you find yourself thinking something negative or stressing about something that you have no control over, snap yourself out of it.
Tell yourself “Listen (put your name here), get out of this thought right now.”
Strive to focus your thoughts on things that don’t bring you to places of unhappiness. And you will see how everything will start to make sense.
Happiness is a result of your decision.
Let’s be real here! We are human beings with lots of problems sometimes. We will all face hardships.
But how do you see hardships? Do you see it as a possibility to learn new things and grow? Or do you see your life as a failure when you go through hardships?
Like the quote stated, 90% of our unhappiness is because we do not deal with our problems the right way.
If every time you go through hardships, and you choose emotions like anger or self-pity to deal with them… it will take a longer period of time to get out of that situation. While you could have just waited a brief minute, think what God is trying to say in this hardship and move on.
This is easier said than done. We can never change overnight. Life is a journey of learning. But if you want to improve yourself and become the best version you can be, you gotta start somewhere.
So, every time you find yourself in a difficult place in life, before reacting, take a moment to think: “What is the lesson to learn in this case, or ‘what am I not seeing correctly?” and then make your move.
As you continue to develop this habit, it will become easier to deal with difficulties. Because you know how to control your emotions.
Don’t delay your hardships because of anger and resentment. Choose happiness to look for a lesson in everything that you go through.
Choose to move forward.
I want you to take a moment and think: “what is the reason for my unhappiness?” Is it that which you are holding on so dear but you know it’s not good for you? Or is it the fear of failure or the fear of ending up alone? You just have to be honest with your self to discover the reason.
Do you remember the times of “Dial-up” internet? Now Imagine someone in 2020 still using that internet. Even though we are in a 5G generation… It doesn’t make sense right? That’s exactly how you can compare someone with depression. Time will continue to pass by, and they are still living in the past.
Regardless of what your situation might be, depression can hold us for such a long time in a “denial” state without going anywhere.
Denial can cause us to accept less of what we deserve for such a long time. As a result, we will be living an unhappy and depressed life.

Sometimes we don’t even know the reason for our depression. Because it has been building up from your childhood or teenage years.
It’s important to go back and see where it has started and hold it just like a balloon in your hands and let it go.
If it’s a person that is holding you back, it will be a good idea to tell them that you’re releasing them for your own mental health.
So how to be happy again after depression? By letting go of everything that is holding you back. Tell yourself that it’s time to release it and let it go.
I want you to visualize the life that you desire. When you’re done, affirm these words with me: I am stepping into the greatest era of my life. An era of mental peace. Happiness and unending self-love.
Write your desire down, and work on it because you deserve it.
Be grateful for everything that you have.
Imagine this: Patricia has a decent driving car that drops her everywhere she needs to go. But the car is a Hyundai Elantra 2011. She wants a Jeep wrangler 2020 because that’s what everybody has.
Because of this Patricia finds herself living angry and unhappy towards life, saying that life is unfair because she doesn’t have the money to get what she desires…
Okay so, nothing wrong with having a desire for something. With the right mindset, we can work to achieve everything that we put our minds to.
Sometimes we have everything we need to live a healthy and happy life. But because we want more and are not appreciative of the things that we DO have, we will find ourselves unhappy.
If this is the reason for your unhappiness and you want to know how to be happy again, please change your perspective to appreciate everything that you do have.
And if you want more, there is nothing wrong with that. Work to get more. You cannot expect it to fall from heaven into your lap. You have to work for the things you desire. Waiting is wishing, doing is becoming.

Live the adventure called life.
The purpose of our lives here on earth is to live, love, create, and procreate. Life was never designed to be seen as a problem but as a possibility.
Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, but every day they have to eat. Don’t you think that you are valuable as well? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
Don’t try to solve a problem that is out of your reach. Every difficulty we go through is a possibility to make us grow.
Life is our reality and all we have is now! Live it to the fullest. But don’t forget to consider God in everything that you do.
Albert Camus explained it perfectly. He said:
“You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.”
Thus, don’t be afraid to live your life to the fullest. There is a gift inside of you, that only you have. Find it, bring it forth, and be happy.
Your mindset is everything!
How do you see yourself? If I ask you to describe yourself to me right now, what would you say? What are the words that you declare upon yourself?
The way that we think and see ourselves is the way we determine how our lives will be. You can choose if your life will be a blessing or a curse depending on your thoughts.
Instead of thinking that your life sucks, why don’t you start proclaiming positive changes upon your life?
Start looking for the negative things that are holding you back, and break free from them. Guard your thoughts above all things. Because they will determine the quality of your life and your happiness.
God did not give you a spirit of fear, but you have power, love and self-discipline in you.

The time to be happy is now. Wow! But can we really be happy right now? Is there even a reason to be happy now?
Yes of course there is! There are so many reasons to be happy…. Stop seeing the things that are not good, and shift your focus to see the things that are going good in your life. Today is a good day to be happy! You’re alive. You have the internet or data to search the web and read this post right now!
Listen, even when we feel that life is not good, life is good! That’s it! There are so many things that we take for granted, and unfortunately, we miss the opportunity to be happy.
So, smile! Even though you don’t see a way, smile! God is working! That’s all you need to know. Trust Him.
Make Plans and set goals.
Albert Einstein couldn’t possibly have said it better. People and things as we know come and go. You are not responsible for the people in your life or the materialistic things. But if you have a goal, that’s your responsibility. It’s your responsibility to work on your goal, water your goal, prepare the soil for your goal.
An accomplished goal brings happiness and inner satisfaction.
Find a goal, write it down. Make the necessary plans to start working on that specific goal. If you don’t know what to write down, look at your life. What is something that you desire? Or what is your imagination? Are you a daydreamer? Then, what do you dream about? It could be as simple as starting a garden.
After finding the idea, and after you’ve written it down now it’s time to tie it to a goal and work on it. Start doing your research. If we look at the gardening example: you can start by searching the web to find out how to plant a seed. What vitamins do you need to buy? Is there a specific soil you need to plant your seeds in?
When you have learned everything there is to learn, start working on it. Make it happen. Allow your goal to grow. There will be days that you may fail, but it’s part of the process. Don’t give up.
Learn from it, grow from it, achieve it and you will be happy.

Happiness is a decision that you must make. You choose to be happy! Even though nothing makes sense in your life, choose happiness.
There’s a quote that says, life is 10% that happens to you and 90% how you react to it.
How to be happy again? By choosing to not look at the things that don’t go right, but to enjoy every bit of the process…
I was diagnosed with facial paralysis this year. And there were a 1000 reasons why I shouldn’t be happy. But I decided to own my disability and look for ways to enjoy the process.
So, if time to be happy is now, what will you choose?
You will be exactly as happy as you decide to be.
Throughout our lives, we will face many trials. In your personal life, relationships, at your jobs. that is part of the life we are here on earth to live.
But, understand that you do not need your job, your relationship, or anything external to be happy. Happiness comes from within, by loving yourself enough to remove anything or anyone that is not contributing to your desire to be happy.
Do you know this is one of the main causes of unhappiness? People want to feel validated and approved by others to be happy.
And they will search without success. Because happiness is a decision that you make! Nobody can make that decision for you. And when you love, trust, and care for yourself, you will find happiness and others will respect you for that.
So search your life for a brief moment. Are you loving yourself enough to choose happiness over everything else?
If your answer is no, then there are things that you need to work on!
